In addition to the podcast this week, um this is I thought we'd run go do the runners and riders, the nominees and winners at this year's Taurus World Stunt Awards. Um I'll name the pictures in each category, and then I will read the stunt performers in the winning category and the description of the gag so you understand what it is. Uh all the other information is available at the Taurus World Stunt Awards uh website, and there is a link in the show notes. If you want to go there, uh you can read all of these names and have a look at the descriptions of each. Okay, so uh there are five nominations in the first category, which is best fight. Um Ballerina gets two nominations, two different fights. A Working Man is the third picture, or the fourth nomination, if you will, and the winner was Forbidden City. Uh the stunt performers here are uh Yunlong Ban, Yaxi Lui, uh Anthony Foy, uh Fitsadi Vatkrurf, and uh Horik Hang were the stunt performers. The description uh of the particular fight is a very dynamic kitchen fight using various kitchen tools as weapons. Uh in the fight, CGI was used for the wounds and some objects being thrown. So that was the fight. I dare say you'll be able to find clear if you've seen the movie, you may have seen the movie, you may be very familiar with what's going on there. Uh the next category is best high work. Um movies are Diablo, Ad Vitum, Afterburn, and Thunderbolts. And the final nomination and the winner of this particular category is Jurassic World. The stunt performer is Eduardo Goga Muros. Um and the description is that this performer repels down a cliff face, then free falls to a gold tail dead stop, and the performer is ratcheted off the cliff and free falls to a gold tail dead stop on the cliff face. Right? He then does a controlled fall through the trees and lands in shallow water. I mean it it's remarkable to look at, but you have to bear in mind there's so many different areas to to create these gags these days, so it's fascinating to watch. Um next category is best stunt rigging. Um the movie Thunderbolts has two nominations for two separate pieces of work in the picture. Uh the next nomination is Superman, uh and the fourth nomination is Predator Badlands, but the winner of this particular category, uh Best Stunt Rigging, went to final destination. Uh the riggers here are Dustin Brooks, Dar Hicks, Brent Lister, Dylan Mabley, and Jason Reynolds. The description of the work, it's quite extensive. So let me just take you through this. It's a revolving restaurant disaster sequence. The main characters are trapped and ultimately fight for their survival and hang on for their lives, quite literally. Um as though as the restaurant meets its demise, fourteen performers fell 40 feet, bouncing off girders, etc. And a second shot had 24 people fall simultaneously on a descender rig, as special effects blue tempered glass, which fell around them as they fell. And a third shot was the actress on a descender rig as she hits the camera. It's staggering to look at and very well deserved. Next category is best work with a vehicle. Um and we have Thunderbolts has a nomination here. Heads of State that gets a nomination as well, and two nominations for Enie Meanie. Um and also a nomination and a win for Back in Action. And uh I I've shown you this clip already, but it's absolutely staggering. Uh the performers here are Amanda Bradley, Jeff Groff, and Kevin Waterman. And uh it's a case of a minivan is being chased by two SUVs in a residential neighbourhood as they smash through backyards. The chase ends with a huge pipe ramp and no CGI was used. It was all done for real. Jeff Groff was the driver. Um if you see the clip, uh it's incredible, it's absolutely staggering to see how high that car goes. Uh next category best specialty stunt. Okay, again, uh four noms nominations, and then I'll read the winner. Uh they are Last Bullet, Thunderbolts, Final Destination, and Shadow Force. And the winner, well, that was from Ballerina was the other nomination. That took the win. Uh I'm going to have a go at these names. I apologize unreservedly if I get them horribly wrong. Sergey Andros, Jason Domenio, Robert Kovlik, Ivan Orsani, and Gila Toth are the performers, the description, and it's a staggering piece of work, it really is. Um The hero uses a flamethrower, igniting multiple opponents into full burns. Uh all burns were practical, and uh particularly where it was the flamethrower. And there there are uh extraordinary uh amounts of uh of firework in this picture. Um Jason, of course, um a pioneer in the in the uh in the in the world of uh stunt safety, and he developed a gel uh many moons ago, which has then been again tweaked, developed, tweaked, and and you you get more bang for your buck, if you will. Um so some extraordinary stuff there. If you if you've seen the ballerina movie, you will know what I am referring to. Um next category best overall stunt by a stunt woman. Okay, best overall stunt by a stunt woman. Uh again, same situation with this. We have Thunderbolts nominated twice. Um we have uh Kate Hansen for one of Thunderbolts and Heidi Moneymaker for the other nomination. Shadow Force D. Bryant and Ballerina uh was Chow Nyum. I'm so sorry, Chow Nyumova, I beg your pardon. Uh but the winner on this particular occasion went to the movie Eny Meeny, and the stunt performer is Crystal Hooks. Uh the hero is chased by henchman in an SUV and evades using extremely precise driving skills. She eventually steals a dodge charger and is chased by police and other bad guys. Using reverse 180s, 90 slides, 270 slides, reverse driving, jumps, impacts, and high speed, high octane maneuver. She eventually gets away. It is a really, really challenging piece of driving, and she's magnificent. She's absolutely magnificent in nailing this beautifully. So well done there. Um next category is hardest hit, and uh we have the first and only nominations for the accountant. Uh the first and only nomination for naked gun. Uh Enemini is in there, as is back in action. Um the winner of this is uh stunt performer Paul Whitecotton. Paul Whitecotton and the description of the gag is the stunt performer is pushed and falls over a second story balcony, impacting off a Volvo and landing on the ground. No CGI was used. Um again, it's a remarkable shot and really very, very well done indeed. Um I also want to, if I may, and I say this because I met with the guy afterwards in um in the party, the naked gun, the stunt performer, uh Yadel Quiles. Okay, Yadel Quiles, make a note of that name. Um and it's the gag, if you've seen Naked Gun, it's the moment where the Yadell performer ran and jumped off an apple box impacting a vending machine. And he showed me the clip, and I remembered it from the movie, had I seen it, and I said, was that a wire gag? And he went, No, no, no, we I had to do it for real. And he had to do it in such a way where he jumps up and turns and then plants himself in the machine, but it looked like a wire gag. And and then he showed me the footage of him actually performing it on set, and the distance that he that he from the takeoff point to where he hits the machine is staggering. It's like a long jumper getting a world record, it's absolutely sensational. So uh please check that out again if you haven't seen it, um, because that was very, very impressive, and uh it was lovely to catch up with him afterwards. Um and the final category uh for this particular year was best stunt coordinator. I'll start that again. Best stunt coordinator and or second unit director. Uh nominees The Gorge Okay, Bryce Kants, Jeff Haberstatt and Shane Haberstatt Heads of State was Lee Morrison, Thunderbolts, George Cottle, Michael Huggins, Heidi Moneymaker, Renee Moneymaker, and Noon Orsati and Ballerina, Stephen Dunlavey, Kyle Gardner, and Darren Prescott. Um and the nom the the the final nomination was for uh Back in Action, JJ Perry, Troy Robinson, Travis Wong and Steve Griffin, and they won. They won. Uh it was um again, if you've not seen the picture, I urge you to do so. The the the nominations and the winners, of course, are picked by the Blue Ribbon Committee. Um so uh it's all done in-house, but it's a remarkable m movie for action. It there's lots of lots of action sequences in it. It's very, very well done. And if you haven't seen those, I urge you to do so. Uh but there we go. That's the nominations and the winners for the 2026 Taurus World Stunt Awards, and thank you for your time.
